Every month we’re going to hand over the blog to one of Pudsey’s Local Councillor’s so they can update you, the people of our community, on the things that are happening in the area or things that are soon to come. As it’s the first in the series we decided to hand over to Pudsey Councillor and MyPudsey founder, Trish. Read on to find out why there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
I have the honour of writing the first Around the Ward post for our brand new website – MyPudsey.
We now have MyPudsey and the Pudsey Lottery – both unique to us! In addition to that we have so much to look forward to over the coming months and years with new public toilets, a Heritage Garden, improvements to our parks (giving everyone the opportunity and access to a free outdoor gym) and so much more.
Our events calendar is fast filling up with our Carnival, Soapbox Derby, Scarecrow Festival, Children in Need Events and of course – our absolutely amazing Christmas Lights Switch On Events!
Whilst we appreciate there is still so much more to be done around the Ward, we at least have Councillors in there fighting for our fair share. Can you honestly believe we’re in the great place we are now – and all despite a worldwide pandemic?
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and we know there are so many practical things still to attend to, but we’ve pulled road maintenance forward for Cemetery Road, argued to get the Number 4 bus route altered, ensured our roads are gritted, provided 60 extra grit bins, 14 SIDS, so many litter bins I’ve lost count! In addition to this we’ve worked hard for the whole community during the ongoing pandemic, trying to make sure everyone has access to all they need and are kept fully informed. We’ve helped many residents with their housing needs and repairs, had pot holes filled in, worked with the NPT & Highways to reduce speeding around the Ward and a million other things to really put the pride back into our community.
You’ll hear more over the coming months of what’s happening around the Ward, any new plans and some of the challenges we’re facing as a community.
Thank you for indulging me by reading this blog, Stay Safe!
