On what is set to be Pudsey’s first big event of 2021, we’re super excited to be able to share the details with you. If you haven’t attended before, the Pudsey Produce and Craft Market runs once a month on the first Sunday of the month and attracts traders from all over Yorkshire and beyond with their fantastic goods and gifts.
Pudsey Produce and Craft Market first started in 2018 and has gone from strength to strength. Each month sees traders occupy both the Market Place and Pudsey House (depending on restrictions) with goods.
We had the opportunity to have a chat with Dawn Seary, one of the key organisers behind the monthly market for her thoughts.
The monthly market was set up in 2018 to breathe life into the Pudsey Market, promote local shopping and to raise much needed funds for the Christmas lights. All profits go straight back into our Christmas lights stock and we now own over 300 Christmas trees and 3km of lights. We have regular and one off stalls every month and once Covid is over, we hope to get back to full capacity. Despite the restrictions, the market has remained popular and we have put many things in place to keep everyone safe. The stalls are spaced out more, we have hand sanitiser at the start and end of the market with a one way system in place. We also have a queue system and limit the numbers through the market at any one time.
We have continued to promote the market with our shop local ethos and have held action days to paint and tidy the area. We’re pleased that the success of the monthly market has spilled into the weekly market with more stalls now there than there have been in years and regular customers supporting shop local. We hope that this continues and that our market and community continues to thrive.
Dawn Seary
The reopening of the market is another step forward in the reopening of our town, and we couldn’t be happier about it. We setup MyPudsey to support our town’s businesses through thick and thin and we cannot wait to get out there and physically support the awesome businesses of Pudsey, we hope you will join us. See you on the market!
